Chi Nei Tsang Abdominal Massage Training

  • 1515 Southwest 5th Avenue 4th Floor, Portland OR 97201 (map)

Chi Nei Tsang (which means “internal organ energy massage”) was developed by the ancient Taoists for cleansing the internal organs of physical and emotional toxins. The abdomen, which is considered in Chinese medicine the energetic center of the body, can become overloaded and sluggish with environmental contaminants and unresolved emotions. When the organs become overloaded, symptoms such as poor digestion, irritable bowels, low energy and chronic pain can occur.

The principles of Chi Nei Tsang are based on the 5-Element theory of Chinese Medicine, which assigns each organ its own personality, energetic pattern and relationship to nature. With these understandings, the Chi Nei Tsang practitioner uses focused massage movements, breath awareness, sensory awareness and sounds to help release stagnant energy and return the organs to their optimal well-being.

Chi Nei Tsang helps to detoxify the organs, release traumas, improve digestion, stimulate energy flow and cultivate greater vitality and well-being throughout the body. It has been used to help correct postural imbalances, relieve chronic shoulder and back pain caused by visceral imbalances, harmonize emotions, help in the healing of fibroids and endometriosis and greatly ease the symptoms of IBS.

This course will give participants a solid foundation in Chi Nei Tsang massage, including the skills needed to begin using this modality with clients immediately. Topics will include the classical principles of Chi Nei Tsang, the anatomy and physiology of the internal organs, palpation skills and massage techniques for detoxifying and releasing tensions in the small intestine, large intestine, liver, gall bladder, stomach, spleen, pancreas and kidneys. Participants will also learn a self-care routine for themselves and their clients.
