Module 4 Support ~ Using Props and Positioning for Therapeutic Alignment and Ease

This hands-on module explores how the skillful use of physical supports—bolsters, pillows, balls—can enhance therapeutic effectiveness. By understanding how these props help bring the body into more optimal alignment, we create conditions that naturally “jump start” the body’s own capacity to reorganize - an insight shared by both Somatic and Daoist principles.

We will also focus on our own alignment and body mechanics as practitioners, cultivating a gentle, graduated, three-dimensional quality of touch. This approach refines access to deeper tissues while reducing strain for both practitioner and client. Using a listening touch, we will practice manual therapy techniques for the superficial tissues of the torso, neck, arms, and legs. Through guided practice, partner work, and the sharing of experiences, students will discover how support is not just physical but relational—an exchange that influences trust, calmness, and the ability to let go.
