This module examines how the skeleton, joints, ligaments, tendons, and intrinsic muscles work together, using visual assessment and manual therapy to clarify their relationships. Students will be introduced to a supportive alignment model that draws from both Somatic and Daoist principles. This perspective highlights the role of tendon integrity and intrinsic muscle strength, with the skeleton organized concentrically over the center of each joint. It also encourages a functionally integrated alignment that remains fluid and adaptable to the demands of our environment.
Through demonstrations and partner practice, we will explore positional release techniques that help the joints settle into more ease. Emphasis will be placed on developing tactile sensitivity, recognizing subtle barriers, and using the manual therapy approach of induction to soften restrictions and balance tonicity.
